Where Your Dollar Goes: A Transparent Look at How CE Repro Fund Uses Donations

We believe donors deserve to know exactly how their money is spent. Here's a detailed breakdown of what your donation funds — from abortion care to birth control to transgender HRT.

When you donate to a nonprofit, you deserve to know where your money goes. Not a vague "it helps people" — the real numbers, the real costs, the real impact. CE Repro Fund believes in complete transparency with our donors, and this post is our commitment to showing you exactly what your donation funds.

Our mission in three numbers

CE Repro Fund provides direct financial assistance across three service areas:

Abortion care — Covering the cost of medication abortion and procedural abortion for patients who cannot afford care, including patients traveling from states with bans.

Birth control — Funding contraception including IUDs, implants, pills, injections, and other methods for patients without insurance or with inadequate coverage.

Transgender healthcare — Paying for hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and related services for transgender and nonbinary patients facing financial barriers to gender-affirming care.

What reproductive healthcare actually costs

Understanding what your donation funds starts with understanding what these services cost when someone has to pay out of pocket.

Medication abortion through telehealth typically costs $150 to $300 on a sliding scale. This includes the provider consultation, mifepristone, misoprostol, and follow-up care. For patients using shield law providers to access care across state lines, costs may be on the lower end thanks to sliding-scale pricing models.

In-clinic abortion ranges from $300 for a first-trimester procedure to over $1,000 for later procedures. When a patient must travel from a ban state, add transportation ($100 to $500+), lodging ($75 to $200 per night), childcare, and lost wages. The total cost of an abortion for a traveling patient can easily exceed $1,500.

Birth control costs vary widely by method. An IUD or implant costs $500 to $1,300 without insurance (though it lasts 3 to 12 years). Monthly pills, patches, or rings cost $20 to $50 per month. Injectable contraception runs $150 to $200 per quarter. Over a year, out-of-pocket birth control costs range from $200 to over $1,000.

Hormone replacement therapy for transgender patients costs $30 to $100 per month for the medications themselves (estrogen, testosterone, or anti-androgens), plus $100 to $300 per provider visit for monitoring, and $50 to $200 for regular blood work. Annual out-of-pocket costs for HRT can range from $1,000 to $3,000 without insurance.

What your specific gift amount can do

$25 covers a month of birth control pills for one patient.

$50 funds one month of HRT medication for a transgender patient.

$100 covers an injectable contraceptive for one quarter, or a telehealth provider visit for HRT monitoring.

$150 funds a medication abortion through a telehealth provider's sliding scale program.

$200 provides a year of birth control for a patient using pills, or covers lab work for an HRT patient.

$300 funds a first-trimester in-clinic abortion procedure.

$500 covers an abortion plus travel costs for a patient coming from a ban state.

$1,000 funds a full year of HRT including medications, provider visits, and lab work for a transgender patient.

These are real costs for real services. When we say your donation goes directly to patient care, this is what we mean.

Our commitment to accountability

CE Repro Fund holds a Gold Seal of Transparency from Candid (formerly GuideStar), which means we've voluntarily disclosed extensive information about our finances, operations, and impact. You can view our full profile, including our Form 990, at any time.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN: 92-0309271), and every donation is tax-deductible. We provide receipts for all gifts and are committed to responsible stewardship of every dollar entrusted to us.

Why transparency matters to us

Our organization is named for Charlene Eisenberg, who spent her career helping people navigate systems that weren't designed to serve them. She believed in treating every person with dignity and respect — and that included being honest about how resources were used.

We carry that commitment forward in how we operate. When you donate to CE Repro Fund, you're not funding a large bureaucracy. You're funding care. Directly.

Make your impact today

Every dollar you give removes a financial barrier between a patient and their healthcare. Whether it's an abortion, birth control, or HRT, your donation means someone receives the care they need and deserve.

Donate now to make a direct impact on reproductive healthcare access. Or set up a monthly donation to provide sustained support throughout the year.

Have questions about how we use donations? Contact us — we're always happy to talk.
