Why We Fund Abortion, Birth Control, and Transgender Healthcare Under One Roof
CE Repro Fund is one of the only nonprofits providing direct financial assistance for abortion care, birth control, and transgender HRT. Here's why we believe these services belong together.

Most reproductive healthcare nonprofits focus on one service. Abortion funds cover abortion. Trans healthcare organizations fund gender-affirming care. Birth control programs handle contraception. CE Repro Fund does all three — and that's by design.
The same barriers block access to all three services
When someone can't afford an abortion, the reasons aren't unique to abortion. They're struggling with insurance gaps, low wages, geographic isolation, or discrimination in the healthcare system. Those same barriers prevent a transgender person from accessing hormone replacement therapy (HRT), and they prevent someone without insurance from affording birth control.
Financial barriers to reproductive healthcare don't sort themselves into neat categories. Neither should the organizations working to remove them.
In the greater Washington, DC area and beyond, CE Repro Fund provides direct funding assistance for patients who cannot afford abortion care, birth control, or transgender healthcare services like HRT. We work with healthcare providers and community organizations to ensure that money never stands between a person and the care they need.
Bodily autonomy is the thread that connects everything we do
At our core, we believe in one principle: every person has the right to make decisions about their own body. That principle doesn't apply only to pregnancy. It applies to gender-affirming care. It applies to contraception. It applies to every medical decision a person makes about their own health and future.
Our founder, Charlene Eisenberg, spent her career at Jobs Unlimited helping people with mental health challenges find employment and independence. She understood that dignity comes from having real choices — and that systems too often deny those choices to the people who need them most.
CE Repro Fund carries that legacy forward. When we fund an abortion, we're affirming someone's right to decide if and when to become a parent. When we fund HRT, we're affirming someone's right to live in a body that matches who they are. When we fund birth control, we're affirming someone's right to plan their own future. It's all the same fight.
The current political moment demands a combined approach
In 2026, the attacks on reproductive healthcare aren't limited to abortion. Twenty-seven states have enacted restrictions on gender-affirming care for minors, with some extending those restrictions to adults. Planned Parenthood has lost Medicaid reimbursements, forcing clinic closures that eliminate access not just to abortion but to birth control, cancer screenings, and STI testing. Legislative proposals in multiple states threaten to reclassify certain forms of contraception as abortifacients.
These are not separate fights happening to separate communities. They are a coordinated effort to limit bodily autonomy across the board. An organization that only funds one service can only respond to one piece of this puzzle. CE Repro Fund sees the full picture.
What your support actually funds
When you donate to CE Repro Fund, your contribution supports patients across all three service areas:
Abortion care — We provide direct financial assistance to patients seeking abortion services, including medication abortion and procedural care. With abortion bans in effect across much of the South and Midwest, patients increasingly travel to states where care remains legal or access medication abortion through telehealth providers operating under shield law protections.
Birth control — We help patients afford contraception including IUDs, implants, pills, and other methods. With Planned Parenthood clinic closures displacing over a million patients, the need for contraception funding has never been greater.
Transgender healthcare — We fund hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and other gender-affirming care for transgender and nonbinary patients who cannot afford these essential services. As states restrict access to gender-affirming care, telehealth providers operating under shield laws have become a critical lifeline.
A 501(c)(3) you can trust
CE Repro Fund is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your donation is tax-deductible, and thanks to the 2025 One Big Beautiful Bill Act, all taxpayers — even those who don't itemize — can now deduct up to $1,000 in charitable gifts ($2,000 for joint filers). We hold a Gold Seal of Transparency from Candid, and we believe in full accountability to our donors and our community.
We operate with a small team, low overhead, and a commitment to getting money directly to patients. That's what Charlene would have wanted.
How to help
The most impactful thing you can do is make a recurring monthly donation. Predictable funding lets us say yes to more patients. But every gift matters — $50 can cover a month of HRT, $200 can provide a year of birth control, and $300 can fund an abortion procedure.
You can also volunteer your time, advocate for policy changes in your community, or simply share our work with your network. Every conversation about reproductive healthcare access opens a door for someone who needs help.
Donate now and join us in building a world where healthcare access isn't determined by your zip code, your income, or your identity.
