Is My Reproductive Healthcare Donation Tax-Deductible? A 2026 Guide
Yes — and thanks to a new law, even non-itemizers can now deduct up to $1,000 in charitable gifts. Here's everything you need to know about the tax benefits of donating to reproductive healthcare funds.

One of the most common questions we receive from donors is simple: "Is my donation tax-deductible?" The short answer is yes. But in 2026, the tax landscape for charitable giving has shifted in a way that benefits far more donors than before — and it's worth understanding how.
CE Repro Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
CE Repro Fund (The Charlene Eisenberg Reproductive Health Collaborative) is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. This means that your donation is tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
Our EIN (Employer Identification Number) is 92-0309271. You can verify our tax-exempt status through the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search or view our profile on Candid, where we hold a Gold Seal of Transparency.
The big change in 2026: Universal charitable deduction
Here's the most important update for donors in 2026. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act, signed into law in July 2025, restored the universal charitable deduction for all taxpayers — including those who take the standard deduction.
Previously, only taxpayers who itemized their deductions could claim charitable gifts on their taxes. Since roughly 90% of taxpayers use the standard deduction, most donors received no direct tax benefit from their charitable giving.
Now, all taxpayers can deduct up to $1,000 in charitable donations ($2,000 for married couples filing jointly) — even if they take the standard deduction. This is on top of the standard deduction, not instead of it.
What this means for you: if you donate $500 to CE Repro Fund, you can deduct that full amount on your 2026 tax return regardless of whether you itemize. Your actual tax savings depend on your tax bracket, but for most donors, a $500 donation now reduces your tax bill by $60 to $185.
What qualifies as a tax-deductible donation
Donations to CE Repro Fund that qualify for tax deduction include:
Cash donations — Online gifts via credit card, debit card, or bank transfer. PayPal and Venmo donations to verified nonprofit accounts also qualify. You'll receive an email receipt for your records.
Check donations — Mailed to our address. The deduction is claimed for the tax year in which the check is mailed (postmark date), not when it's deposited.
Stock and securities — Donating appreciated stock can provide additional tax benefits. You can deduct the full fair market value of the stock and avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciation. Contact us directly to arrange a stock gift.
IRA charitable rollovers (Qualified Charitable Distributions) — If you're 70½ or older, you can direct up to $105,000 from your IRA directly to CE Repro Fund. This counts toward your required minimum distribution but doesn't increase your taxable income.
Employer matching gifts — If your employer matches charitable donations, the company match is deductible for the company, and your original gift remains deductible for you. Check with your HR department — many employers match donations to 501(c)(3) organizations.
What you need for your tax records
For any donation under $250, your bank or credit card statement serves as sufficient documentation for the IRS. For donations of $250 or more, you need a written acknowledgment from CE Repro Fund. We automatically send donation receipts for all gifts, but if you need a duplicate, contact us through our Join Us page.
Your receipt will include our organization name, EIN, the date of your donation, the amount, and a statement that no goods or services were provided in exchange for the contribution.
Timing your donation for maximum impact
Year-end giving (November and December) is when most charitable donations occur, but there's no wrong time to give. Here are some timing considerations:
Tax year deadline: Donations must be made by December 31 to count for that tax year. Online donations are timestamped automatically. Mailed checks use the postmark date.
Giving Tuesday: The Tuesday after Thanksgiving has become one of the biggest giving days of the year. Many employers activate special matching programs on this day.
Recurring monthly donations: Setting up a monthly gift spreads your giving across the year and provides CE Repro Fund with predictable funding. Your total annual giving is deductible regardless of whether you gave it all at once or $25 per month.
A note on state tax deductions
In addition to the federal deduction, many states allow their own charitable deductions. If you live in a state with an income tax, check your state's rules — your donation to CE Repro Fund may provide both federal and state tax benefits.
Washington, DC; Maryland; and Virginia all allow charitable deductions on state income taxes for residents who itemize at the state level.
Support reproductive healthcare and your tax return
Every donation to CE Repro Fund does double duty: it directly funds abortion care, birth control, and transgender healthcare for patients who can't afford it, and it provides you with a legitimate tax deduction.
Under the new universal charitable deduction, there has never been a better time to give. Whether you donate $25 or $2,500, your gift is tax-deductible and goes directly to patient care.
